It serves as a key device for paper forming and dewatering, playing an irreplaceable role in ensuring the quality and efficiency of papermaking.
In general, paper machine felt can be divided into two main categories: press felt for paper making and dryer felt for paper making, each with its own unique functions in the papermaking process.
1. Press Felt for Paper Making
The primary function of press felt for paper making is to dewater the pulp suspension discharged from the headbox, while smoothly conveying the formed paper web to the subsequent processing section, laying a solid foundation for the follow-up papermaking steps.
2. Dryer Felt for Paper Making
Dryer felt for paper making is responsible for peeling the dried paper off the surface of the dryer roller and stably transporting it to the paper winding machine, ensuring the continuous and efficient

Felt for paper making has a variety of classifications to meet different papermaking needs, including BOM forming felt, BOM press felt for paper making, BOM upper felt, BOM dryer felt and other types.
The structure of paper machine felt is relatively uniform, generally consisting of a base mesh layer and a fiber layer. The base mesh layer can be designed as a single layer, double layer or multi-layer according to the use requirements. For double-layer base mesh, it can also be made into a 1+1 laminated structure; for multi-layer base mesh, it can be further divided into 1+2 or 2+2 laminated structures to enhance the performance of the felt.

Using Method and Maintenance of Paper Machine Felt
Correct use and regular maintenance are crucial to extending the service life of paper machine felt and ensuring its stable performance. The specific steps are as follows:
1. Before using felt for paper making, first identify the facade marked with"Side with Paper", and operate strictly in accordance with the direction indicated by the arrow on the felt.
2. When fixing the paper machine felt, wrap the top of the oiled axle with a plastic bag to prevent oil stains from contaminating the felt and affecting its use effect.
3. Before putting the press felt for paper making into use, it must be fully spread and sprinkled with water first. Ensure that the paper machine felt is evenly wetted, then tension it properly and operate it slowly to avoid damage caused by uneven stress.
4. Before feeding paper into the machine, soften the surface of the paper machine felt with soda water to improve its adaptability and ensure better contact with the paper web.
5. Adopt a high-pressure (5~20kgf/cm²) moving sprinkler pipe to clean the reverse side of the paper machine felt; for the obverse side of the press felt for paper making, use a frequent-pressure (1~3 kgf/cm²) fan sprinkler for cleaning, so as to effectively remove impurities and avoid blockage.
6. Tension the front side of the standard line according to the operating direction until the standard line is kept level and straight, ensuring the stable operation of the felt during use.
7. Press felt for paper making should be cleaned regularly. For alkaline press felt for paper making, use acid detergent for cleaning; for acid press felt for paper making, use alkaline detergent; for neutral press felt for paper making, non-ionic active detergent is recommended to protect the felt and maintain its performance.
